The Bulldogs women's golf season came to an end on Sunday at the John A. Logan Invitational in Marion, Ill. The team finished third out of three teams at the tournament. The host school won the meet after shooting a 355-342=697. Southern Indiana was second with scores of 361-344=705 and the Bulldogs carded scores of 370-373=743.
Ashley Elliott (Grinnell, Iowa) led the way for Truman with a fifth-place overall finish. She shot an opening round of 90 followed by an 87 on the second day for a score of 177. Jill Schulte (St. Charles, Mo.) was runner-up on the team after rounds of 91 and 90 for a two-day total of 181. Dyane Tower (Maryland Heights, Mo.) turned in a card of 93-97=190 and Calie Fulmer (Rosemount, Minn.) shot 96-99=195. Rounding out the Bulldogs squad was Melissa Pfeiffer (Edwardsville, Ill.) who shot 108-106=214.
Truman ends its 2002-03 season that saw a very successful fall season. The Bulldogs won a dual meet against Rockhurst and won the Monmouth Invitational. The team also finished among the top half of the field in every event except one, the Missouri-Kansas City Invitational which included a field of mostly Division I schools. Truman did not have one its top golfers, Lauren Allen (Kirksville, Mo.), in the spring season and struggled a bit. The team finished fourth at its own Bulldog Classic before facing mostly Division I schools at the Payne Stewart Memorial and Illini Spring Classic.
Individually, Erin Fogarty (Houston, Texas) led the team in scoring during both the fall and spring seasons. She had the top score among the team in six events and ended with an average of 86.1 strokes. Allen recorded an average of 85.6 in the fall season. She led the team in four events and earned medalist honors at the Monmouth Invitational. Schulte also broke 90 for the year, averaging 87.3 shots in a team-high 19 rounds. She played in 11 events and finished second on the team or better in nine of them.
