Women's Golf Competes at SMSU Payne Stewart Memorial

The Truman State University women's golf team competed on Monday and Tuesday at the Southwest Missouri State University Payne Stewart Memorial in Springfield, Mo.

The Bulldogs finished 12th out of 13 teams in the tournament and carded a two-day score of 746 (370-376) on the par 72, 6,002-yard Hickory Hills Golf Course.

Freshman Erin Fogarty (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy) led Truman with a 178 (91-87) and placed 32nd overall. Junior Becky Costello (Liberty, Mo.) finished with a 185 (86-99).

Senior Chrissy Glover (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) tallied 192 (97-95), while sophomore Jill Schulte (St. Charles, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) and junior Amy Franzen (Highland, Ill.) finished with 194 (99-95) and 197 (96-101), respectively.

Bradley University (Ill.) won the tournament, made up predominantly of NCAA Division I teams, with a 646, two strokes better than second-place Northern Iowa.

Truman hosts its lone tournament of the year, the Bulldog Classic, on Friday and Saturday at Kirksville Country Club. Nine teams will be competing in the tournament, which begins at 8:30 a.m. on both days. Teams taking part in the tournament include Truman, Simpson (Iowa), North Dakota, Quincy (Ill.), Buena Vista (Iowa), Lewis (Ill.), Central (Iowa), Lindenwood and a club team from Northwest Missouri State.
