Women's Golf Posts Fourth Consecutive Tournament Win

The Truman State University women's golf team won its fourth straight tournament today, winning by 23 strokes at the Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville Cougar Classic.

The Bulldogs, winners of four tournaments and a dual this fall, shot a 681 (348-333) to capture the title played at Woodlands/Spencer T. Oli Golf Course in Alton, Ill. In Sunday's first round, par was 71 as the course played 5,870 yards. The course played 5,847 yards today and had a par of 72.

Senior Chrissy Glover (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) led the Bulldogs and finished second overall with a score of 165. Glover, who tallied an 88 on Sunday, finished up with a 77 in today's round and was three strokes off the pace for medalist honors. Junior Betsy Driskill (Liberty, Mo.) finished with a 168 (86-82), good enough for third place, and junior Becky Costello (Liberty, Mo.) charted a 175 (84-91) for seventh place.

Junior Amy Franzen (Highland, Ill.) made it three Bulldogs in the top 10, as she placed ninth with a 179 (91-88). Senior Laura Potts (Quincy, Ill.) and sophomore Jill Schulte (St. Charles, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) ended in an 11th-place tie as each shot 181. Potts scored an 86 today to go with Sunday's 95, while Schulte had a 90 on Sunday and a 91 today.

Quincy (Ill.) placed second in the tournament, finishing with a 704 (353-351), while host SIU-Edwardsville was third with a 716 (362-354). McKendree College (Ill.) finished fourth in the four-team field with a 790 (402-388).

Truman will conclude its fall schedule next Monday and Tuesday at the University of Missouri-Kansas City Classic.
