Women's Golf Wins Fourth Tourney of the Fall Season

For the fourth time this fall, the Truman State University women's golf team captured first-place honors at a tournament, this time at the Nebraska Wesleyan Fall Invitational. The tournament was held at the par 72, 5,875-yard Mahoney Golf Course in Lincoln, Neb., on Friday and Saturday.

Truman carded a two-day total of 664, including a 324 on the second day, and won over four other teams. Nebraska-Omaha finished second with a 687, 23 strokes back of the Bulldogs. Nebraska-Kearney (705), South Dakota (707) and Rockhurst (783) rounded out the field.

Freshman Erin Fogarty (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy) led Truman with a 160 (81-79) and finished second overall among individuals. Each Bulldog golfer placed in the top 20 and three finished among the top five. Junior Betsy Driskill (Liberty, Mo.) placed third with a 161 (83-78) and junior Becky Costello (Liberty, Mo.) finished fifth with 170 (87-83). Sophomore Jill Schulte (St. Charles, Mo./St. Joseph's Academy) and freshman T.J. Zipf (Geneva, Ill./Geneva Community) rounded out the Truman scoring with a 175 (89-86) and 185 (95-90), respectively. Schulte tied for 12th overall, while Zipf was 19th.

Truman will return to action on Oct. 15-16 at Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville. Originally, the 'Dogs were scheduled to compete this Saturday and Sunday in Carterville, Ill., at the John A. Logan College Invitational. However, that meet has been cancelled.
