Women's Golf Team Places Fifth at Lone Star Conference Tourney
The Truman State University women's golf team came in fifth out of seven teams on Monday and Tuesday at the Lone Star Conference/West Region Preview Tournament in Garland, Texas. The Bulldogs shot a two-day total of 697 (351-346) in the tournament played at the par 72 Firewheel Old Course.
Senior Betsy Driskill (Liberty, Mo.) tied for seventh-place overall with a score of 163, including a 78 in Tuesday's round. Freshman Erin Fogarty (Houston, Texas/St. Agnes Academy) also collected a top 20 finish, tying for 16th with a 174 (85-89).
Senior Laura Potts (Quincy, Ill.) finished 23rd with a 180 (92-88) and junior Becky Costello (Liberty, Mo.) had a 183 (89-94) to tie for 26th. Senior Chrissy Glover (Columbia, Mo./Hickman) placed 32nd, carding a 191 (100-91).
Truman's 697 was just five strokes back of third-place Southwestern Oklahoma State. Northeastern State (Okla.) won the championship with a 655 (329-326), while Western New Mexico (659) was second.
Up next, the Bulldogs will travel to Carterville, Ill. on April 28-29 for the John A. Logan Invitational.
