Truman suffered its second loss of the season and second loss in as many years to the Bears of Southwest Missouri State University.

The Division 1-AA team jumped out to an early lead on a 13-yard pass and a 4-yard run to take a 14-0 lead at the end of the first quarter.

In the second stanza, the Bulldogs managed their first points of the game on a 7-yard run by Bret Yoder, but not before a 26-yard TD run by SMSU. Southwest continued its domination by adding a field goal and another score before the end of the half.

After intermission, SMSU extended its lead to 37 with a TD and two field goals of 52- and 57-yards. Truman added a touchdown on a 13-yard run by Deric Johnson to end the game.
